The town of Thetford can be found off the A11 road. It is 28 miles from Norwich in one direction and 86 miles from London in the other. In the past, the A11 passed through the town. However, a bypass was constructed in the 1990s. In 2014, a huge project began that made the A11 a dual carriageway that connects London to Thetford and then to Norwich.

By train

On the Thetford railway station, you will find trips between Norwich and Cambridge (Abellio Greater Anglia) and Norwich to Liverpool Lime Street (East Midlands Trains). There is also a regular service from Cambridge going to London King’s Cross. There used to be a branch line going to Bury St Edmunds – but it was closed during the 1950s. You can still see what used to be the Thetford Bridge railway station in the southern area of the town.

By bus

The Thetford Bus station is located just between Minstergate and St Nicholas Street. If you are coming from the Norwich Bus Station, you can ride Bus 4, 3, and 81. In case you will come from the University of East Anglia, you will ride Bus 31, 38, 1, 304, and 86. Those coming from Cambridge will ride Bus 13, 15, and 84. From Castle Meadow in Norwich, you will ride Bus 3 and 81. Those coming from the London Heathrow Airport can also get to Thetford through the National Express. The shuttle usually leaves at 1:55 in the morning and operates until 11:35 in the evening.
